ABOUT GIO
I’m Giorgia, often called Gio (pronounced Jo). I originally moved to London for a short stay, but found the opportunity to study, learn, and develop a new career. My professional journey began in Milan as a designer and continued in London as a project manager for a large international company, working on complex high-end furniture projects, traveling, and liaising with diverse teams.

Dogs, however, have always been my passion. My journey with them began at age seven when I asked my parents to rescue Rudy, a clever mutt. Over the years, I’ve volunteered at rescue centres in Italy, adopted dogs and cats, and shared my life with my current companion, Sirya, who joined me from a rescue centre in Italy eleven years ago.

Currently, I work as a behaviour and training advisor at one of the UK’s leading rescue charities, while pursuing APDT accreditation and a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour (Canine), a programme recognised by the ABTC, which will qualify me as an animal behaviourist.
In 2020, while still working in design, I began my formal training in canine behaviour, earning a Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management. Still feeling passionate and eager to deepen my knowledge, I then undertook both the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) residential courses, ‘Foundation’ and ‘Part Two’. Seeking practical experience, I volunteered at Dogs Trust Dog School, supporting puppy and adult classes and learning positive training techniques.
By 2022, I transitioned fully into the canine field, founding Gio and the Dogs, initially offering walks in South East London and later adding training services after completing APDT courses. I also collaborated part-time with Dogs’ Choice daycare, applying my knowledge, observing dogs' body language and managing socialisation in puppies and adult dogs.
